Our Story
The business grew progressively from two founders into a dedicated team. What began in a rented room within a shared office later expanded to a double-storey shop lot, and today operates from our current headquarters — a semi-detached factory — reflecting our continuous growth and commitment to excellence.
THE MEANING OF “CHOP YEW LEE”
友利号 CHOP YEW LEE
- “Chop (号)” was the traditional 1970s term for “Company.”
- “Yew Lee (友利)” was chosen by Mr. Khong to signify “Value to Friends,” reflecting our core philosophy of treating every customer as a valued friend.
Today, that RM 6,000 startup has grown into a robust group of companies with an annual turnover of RM 200 million. Our legacy continues through a carefully planned succession; in 2005, second-generation leader Ms. Celine Khong joined the company following her graduation from the University of Melbourne, ensuring our family-oriented values remain at the heart of our modern operations.

Our Milestones
1976
From RM6,000 to Industrial Diesel Supply
- A young couple, Mr. Khong and Madam Alice Wong, began their entrepreneurial journey with just RM6,000 in capital. Renting a desk, sharing a warehouse, and purchasing their very first second-hand oil tanker, they officially embarked on their journey in the industrial diesel supply business.
1982
Relocated to First Owned double-storey shop
- The company officially relocated to its own purchased double-storey shop in Kepong, significantly enhancing its corporate image and operational efficiency.
1988
Introduced Barter Trade Model
- Introduced an innovative barter trade model to expand diesel business. Diesel was supplied to sawmills, which sold timber to moulding companies, who in turn settled the diesel payments — creating an efficient trading cycle that drove business growth.

1989
Purchased Sungai Buloh Land for Storage Facility
- Purchased land in Sungai Buloh, which remains in use as our storage facility today.
1994
Expanded into Fisheries Market & White Station Supply
- Expanded into the fisheries market and began supplying White Station (unbranded) outlets.
2001
Diversified into Bitumen Market
- Entered the bitumen market, opening a new chapter of growth and diversification.

2006
Moved to Current Headquarters
- The company officially relocated to current headquarters in Kepong, expanding its operational space and marking a new phase of continued growth.
2017
Opened Our First Petrol Station in Glenmarie
- Opened Glenmarie petrol station — our first step into the retail fuel business and our very first Caltex station.

2021
Entered E-Commerce & Digital Marketing
- Became active in e-commerce and social media marketing, launching official stores on Shopee and Lazada, and producing knowledge-sharing videos on platforms such as Facebook and TikTok, embracing digital transformation.
2023
MBR Achievement & Trolak Station Opening
- Recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for achieving the Highest Sales Value of Asphalt in a year (RM136,290,147.07). In the same year, Trolak petrol station officially opened, further expanding the company’s retail fuel network.
2024
Golden Eagle Award Winner & Launch of CSR Program
- Awarded the Eminent Eagles category at the Golden Eagle Award 2024. In the same year, the company launched its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, reinforcing its commitment to giving back to the community.
2026
Opening of Petron Karak East Bound station
- The Petron Karak East Bound petrol station officially opened. This is the company’s second Petron station, further expanding its retail fuel network and strengthening its market presence.
